BALTIMORE (WBFF) — An officer with Baltimore County Police is on life support after being shot during a manhunt Thursday night, officials said.
Dr. Thomas Scalea of the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center said the officer was admitted to the hospital just after 10 p.m. on Thursday with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and his extremities.
"He'll be with us for a while," said Scalea.
Interim Baltimore County Police Chief Dennis Delp said the shooting happened during a brief encounter during which suspect David Emory Linthicum stole a vehicle.

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — The suspect accused of killing a Hornerstown man and wounding a woman in a double shooting at Oakhurst Homes last September appeared in court Tuesday where his case was continued.
In October, Jashon Gordon was arrested in Ohio in connection to the Sept. 22 shooting that claimed the life of 19-year-old Emerald Nugent Jr.
Officials say Nugent died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Johnstown police have filed homicide charges against an inmate at SCI Houtzdale in connection to a 2022 fatal shooting and car crash in Moxham.
Police say 21-year-old Gary Hill has been charged in connection to the death of 42-year-old Timothy Harrison.
Authorities say Harrison was found shot inside a wrecked vehicle, in the area of Charles Street and Park Avenue, on Feb. 18, 2022.
Investigators say Harrison had reportedly suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Conemaugh Hospital where he later died in the operating room.
BREEZEWOOD – The Pike 2 Bike trail in Bedford and Fulton counties, known as the abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike, got a major cleanup Thursday morning.
