Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — A newly elected Clearfield County official accused of stealing a campaign sign belonging to one of his political opponents has reportedly entered a guilty plea in the case, according to online court records. In November, Timothy Winters was elected to the Clearfield County Board of Commissioners. Then, he was charged following an investigation into accusations that he allegedly stole a “Vote Mary Tatum Commissioner” sign from outside of the Hyde Volunteer Fire Company.

JOHNSTOWN, PA (WJAC) - Bishop McCort Catholic eighth-grader Bo Bassett tied history this weekend. Bassett won his 8th Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling state championship, a previous record held solely by Nico Cortese from Franklin Regional. Over the course of the three-day tournament, no wrestler went the full length against Bassett. The world champion defeated every opponent he faced by technical fall in the first period. In the first place bout on the 117 lbs mats, Bassett won 19-4 technical fall in the first period.

Hit-and-run crash spills ice cream on PA Turnpike; roadway closed for over 6 hours

Somerset Co., PA (WJAC) — State police say a section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, in Somerset Township, was closed for over 6 hours early Wednesday morning following a hit-and-run crash involving a truck hauling ice cream. Police say the crash occurred just before 1 a.m. near the 110.6 mile marker, according to the crash report. Investigators say a flatbed tractor-trailer was traveling in the right-hand lane and was attempting to pass the truck hauling ice cream when it crossed into the left lane and struck the other truck.

Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer has confirmed that Tyree Carter was arrested this week in Henry County, Georgia by the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Officials say Carter is wanted for shooting a woman in Dale Borough, on the night of January 29th, and causing her to crash her car.

Elias Huizar was the focus of a manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies in Washington and Oregon after an Amber Alert was issued for his 1-year-old son. The suspect is accused of killing his ex-wife, Amber Rodriguez and 17-year-old girlfriend, who was the child's mother.

Future of Jackson Elementary after Central Cambria elementary school reconfiguration

There will only be about 100 students at Jackson Elementary in the upcoming year school officials said now that it will be just kindergarten through second grade students in Jackson Township. The Central Cambria school board voting on and passing a plan that will have students third through fifth grades, that previously went to Jackson Elementary going to Cambria Elementary to begin the upcoming school year. That will add about 100 students to Cambria Elementary, taking its total to about 540 students according to school officials.
