James Wagner Wednesday for his heroic actions last year on June 17 in Lewistown, when he confronted an armed individual who fired shots at patrol vehicles parked outside the Lewistown barracks. Lt. Wagner was critically injured and Trooper Jacques Rougeau was killed by the gunman. Lt. Wagner was presented with a newly commissioned service ribbon, known as the Lewistown Service Award, for his exemplary actions and sacrifice that day.

'Bigger than any one person:' Everett rifle team records 100th straight victory

In the past seven years, Everett high school's rifle team hasn't dropped a single match and on Wednesday, their hard work was witnessed by dozens in attendance. Officials ID teen who drowned while swimming at Raystown Lake

UPDATE:Huntingdon County, PA — The victim of Saturday's drowning in Huntingdon County has been identified by local school district leaders. Bellefonte Area High School Principal, Mike Fedisson, announcing that 16-year-old Nathan Dan was killed in a swimming accident at Raystown Lake. Fedisson says Dan was a student at the school, and was most recently in athletics, including on the school's lacrosse team. He says, "counseling services will be available for students and staff who may need assistance in coping with the loss.

Philadelphia Sheriff's Office cannot account for nearly 200 guns, city comptroller finds

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia Sheriff's Office can't account for 185 missing guns, according to a report released this week by the city controller's office. Some of the missing guns were part of the sheriff's office's arsenal and others were confiscated from people subject to protection-from-abuse orders. Acting City Controller Charles Edacheril said his office conducted the review as a follow-up to a 2020 report that found the sheriff's office couldn't account for more than 200 weapons.

Stop & Shop parent company says 'underperforming' stores set to close

Authorities searching for inmate who 'walked away' from work detail in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WCAU) — The search is on for a Pennsylvania escapee. Authorities say the inmate was on a work detail in an orchard behind the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Facility when he climbed a fence and disappeared. He has been identified as 34-year-old Gino Hagenkotter. Investigators say just after noon, all Philadelphia prison facilities were secured and placed in lockdown. Hagenkotter was jailed in 2019 for violating parole on several drug, retail theft and burglary charges.
