Storm to bring everything from snow to high winds to rain to the region

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — After a short respite on Monday, the next winter storm will arrive in our area early Tuesday morning.
Snow will develop quickly from south to north Tuesday morning with some sleet and freezing rain mixing in at times. A rapid 1 to 3 inches is likely by mid to late morning with localized amounts to 4 inches. This means that snowfall rates will be similar to what we saw on Saturday, although for a shorter duration.
Then the focus will turn to high winds and rain. A flood watch is up for the Eastern Alleghenies from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon. Rain and snowmelt could cause some rivers and streams to rise to bank-full.
Much of the region will experience wind gusts up to 50 MPH on Tuesday as the storm system moves through. The Laurel Highlands could see gusts even a bit higher, up to 55 MPH through late day Tuesday.
We’ll see snow showers and gusty winds on the backside of this storm system on Wednesday with colder temperatures.
The next storm will arrive later Friday. Stay tuned!
