Man in custody following hours-long standoff in Clearfield Co. that closed Rt. 255

UPDATE:

Authorities say one man is in federal custody following an hours-long standoff in Sandy Township, Clearfield County.

State police say the standoff resulted in a large portion of Route 255, between DuBois and Penfield, being closed most of Wednesday.

Sandy Township Police Chief Kriz Kruzelac confirmed to our 6 News crew on scene that state police and U.S. Marshalls were serving a federal search warrant at a home along Old 255, prior to the standoff.

Kruzelac added that the suspect would not respond to commands from authorities, resulting in the standoff.

Officials say authorities had been on scene since between 9 and 10 a.m. No injuries were reported.

The identity of the suspect has not been released.

All roads have since been reopened and nearby residents have been allowed to return to their homes.

Clearfield County authorities have closed a large portion of Route 255 between DuBois and Penfield.

Officials with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation say the state route, which is also Bee Line Highway, is closed due to police activity.

According to PennDOT, the closure extends from Old Route 255 Road, Sher-de-lin Road to Hooverstown Road.

Emergency dispatchers could not confirm to 6 News the reason for the closure.
