Punxsy man charged for causing fiery 2019 crash in Blair Co. that injured man, police say
Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Martinsburg Police Department say a Punxsutawney man is facing charges stemming from a 2019 fiery crash in Blair County that injured another man.
According to the affidavit, police were dispatched to the crash, on the morning of July 13th, 2019, in the area of Piney Creek Road (Route 866) and Stultz Lane.
Investigators say the two vehicle crash resulted in multiple injuries and both vehicles reportedly caught fire.
Witnesses say that prior to the crash, the driver of a black Chevy Avalanche had reportedly "turned sharply" into the opposite lane.
Police identified the driver as Anthony Richardson, now age 58, of Punxsutawney.
Upon further investigation, police say Richardson claimed that the rear end of his truck "locked up" causing him to drift into the oncoming lane.
Police say investigators found no evidence, however, that the rear end of Richardson's vehicle had "locked up."
Authorities also noted that Richardson was driving on a suspended license and further investigation revealed that the truck he was driving did not belong to him and he did not have permission to be driving it either.
Following the completion of the crash investigation and interviews with the doctor who treated the injured victim, police formally filed one count of felony accidents involving death or injury against Richardson on Tuesday.
Online court records show that he was released on unsecured bail.
