Southmont celebrates 47th annual jubilee

The 47th annual Southmont Volunteer Fire Company Jubilee held its annual parade Thursday.

The event began at the Westmont Elementary School and made its way to the jubilee grounds on State Street.

Each year, people line the streets for the parade and then head to the festival grounds for entertainment, food and rides.

This is a special year for Southmont, as the borough celebrates its centennial.

Organizers say the parade is a good way to support your local fire department.

This week also marks the 47th year of the firemen's jubilee, and Friday at 5:30 p.m., WJAC will kick off Your Town stops in Southmont.

We’ll take a look at the borough's history and some of the things that make it special.

The jubilee runs through Saturday night.
