Altoona police release 20 of the month's prominent arrests
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Altoona police have released 20 of what they say are some of the department’s most prominent arrests over the past month.
The Altoona Police Department posted a gallery of mugshots to their Facebook page Wednesday.
Police said in the post, that the release “does not include all arrests, only some of the more prominent incidents handled by officers.”
Some of the names and faces shown below you may recognize from previous 6 News reports.
Joshua Bennett and Kristen Kennedy
Arrested Sept. 30, according to police.
Police say Joshua Bennett and Kristen Kennedy (picture unavailable) were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, and other related charges after assaulting a 9-year-old child after the child ate a dessert from the kitchen.
Raymond Birch Jr.
Arrested Oct. 7, according to police.
Police say Birch Jr. was charged with fleeing and eluding, theft, hit-and-run of an attended vehicle and other related charges after removing the money box from a soda machine at the Martin’s on East Chestnut with a crowbar.
Police say Birch then fled in his vehicle and led officers on an eight-minute chase, before striking a fence and then trying to run away.
He was taken into custody after a brief foot chase, police say.
Daniel Bradford
Arrested Oct. 13, according to police.
Police say Bradford threatened employees at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Bradford also threatened to shoot officers and resisted arrest as he was being taken into custody, according to police.
Damian Brooks
Arrested Sept. 24, according to police.
Police say Brooks was arrested on domestic violence charges after assaulting the person.
Brooks the spit in an officer’s face being taken into custody and then tried to kick the window out of the police car, authorities say.
Tracy Burd
Arrested Oct. 14, according to police.
Police say Burd is facing domestic violence charges after flipping over a couch that a woman was sitting on, throwing her into a glass coffee table causing lacerations and bruising to her head and face.
Joseph Clemens and Travis Swab
Arrested Oct. 21, according to police.
Police say Clemens faces attempted homicide and other related charges after an altercation with his girlfriend’s son, Travis Swab.
Swab struck Clemens in the head with a baseball bat, and Clemens then stabbed Swab nine times with a folding knife, according to police.
Police say Swab is facing aggravated assault charges.
Crystal Clifford
Arrested Sept. 30, according to police.
Police say Clifford faces domestic violence charges after chasing a person with a hammer.
Kyle Coury
Arrested Oct. 20, according to police.
Police say Coury faces domestic violence charges after threatening a person with a knife.
Lisa Cross
Arrested Oct. 6, according to police.
Police say Cross was charged with aggravated assault and domestic violence after stabbing a person in the leg with a knife.
Antoine Taji DeSmith
Arrested Sept. 28, according to police.
Police say DeSmith threatened a man with a knife and then ran from officers.
DeSmith was taken into custody after a foot chase and also found to have an active warrant out of Newark, New Jersey, according to police.
James Eirhart
Arrested Sept. 24, according to police.
Police say Eirhart was charged with domestic violence after holding a gun to a person’s head while also threatening to harm himself.
According to police, officers responded to a weapons call that involved a suicidal/homicidal man with children in the home.
When police arrived on scene, officers learned there were two small children on the second floor of the home, so an officer scaled the side of the house, pulled the kids out of the window and handed them to other officers on scene, according to authorities.
Police say Eirhart eventually let the person go and surrendered himself.
Shaquille McCord
Arrested Oct. 6, according to police.
Police say McCord was arrested during a traffic stop after he provided false reports and a false name to officers.
After police positively identified McCord, officers say they discovered that he was wanted on Pennsylvania State Parole violations for attempted homicide.
Christian McIntire
Arrested Oct. 20, according to police.
Police say McIntire was charged with domestic violence strangulation charges after strangling a person for requesting to eat chicken for dinner.
Tracy Mills
Arrested Oct. 12, according to police.
Police say Mills was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest after assaulting a person.
According to police, Mills was actively assaulting a person when officers arrived on scene and then tried to resist arrest while trying to kick officers in the face.
Police say Mills also had an active warrant out of Centre County.
Jeffrey Reed and Donald Wertz
Arrested Oct. 13, according to police.
Police say Reed and Wertz were charged with burglary and assault after breaking into two different homes and assaulting a man.
According to police, Reed and Wertz were drinking when they made a plan to assault the man.
The two first broke into the wrong home and engaged in an altercation with the people who lived there, police say.
The two men then saw the man they were after in the neighboring home, so they broke in to that home too and assaulted the man by punching him repeatedly and pouring hot soup on him, according to police.
Regina Shultz
Arrested Oct. 19, according to police.
Police say Shultz was charged with aggravated assault after violently assaulting a woman.
According to police, Shultz and the woman were drinking and smoking crack when they began to argue about the woman using Shultz’ washer and dryer.
Police say Shultz struck the woman with various kitchen implements, dishware, and punched and kicked her in the head while she was on the ground.
Alexander Strohecker
Arrested Oct. 19, according to police.
Police say Strohecker was charged with domestic violence, strangulation and assault after assaulting a pregnant woman.
According to police, Strohecker repeatedly hit the woman’s head on the steering wheel in a vehicle and then began strangling the victim.
Police say neighbors saw the assault and tried to intervene, but Strohecker began assaulting them too.
Strohecker tried to fight officers, but was eventually taken into custody, police say.
Tracy Summers
Arrested Oct. 15, according to police.
Police say Summers was charged with domestic violence after striking a man in the head with a wine bottle.
