Cambria Co. school district to pay back $3.7M following alleged 'error' by county

Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — An alleged error made by Cambria County officials is making for some tough choices for leaders in the Central Cambria School District.

A school board meeting was held Monday evening where leaders voted to move forward with a feasibility study to explore consolidating their two elementary schools.

The decision came after a recent tax settlement where officials claim that the county mistakenly appraised a natural gas power plant in Jackson Township at five times its actual value.

Because of the error, school officials say they're left footing a $3.7 million bill over the course of the next three years that they need to pay back to the CPV Fairview Power Plant.
