Treasure Lake Property Owner's Association comments on Ski Lodge closure
DUBOIS - Two days after residents and guests of the Treasure Lake Ski Lodge were angered to learn the business was closing, the board of the property owners association has cited its reasons for ending the lease agreement with the ski lodge's operator, George Moore Enterprises.
George Moore Enterprises had been running the ski lodge for the past 16 years.
The board specified several reasons for ending the lease agreement, including:
- The tenant's lease payments being habitually delinquent or outstanding.
- The tenant having significant lien obligations owed and outstanding to the federal and state governments
- The tenant failing to maintain the Ski Lodge premises in a safe and secure condition
- The tenant failing to continually maintain proper insurance coverages for the premises.
"The decision to end TLPOA's (Treasure Lake Property Owners Association's) relationship with longtime tenant of the Ski Lodge was not an easy one, but after much and careful thought and consideration, it was a decision necessary to protect the interests of all Treasure Lake property owners and patrons of the Ski Lodge," read a portion of the statement.
Treasure Lake officials said that they are hopeful that the lodge will only be closed temporarily and are working on making what they called an "intellectual" decision on the future of the Ski Lodge.
6 News reached out to George Moore regarding Treasure Lake's statement, but he has not yet returned that call.
The Ski Lodge's last day of operation is Sunday.
