BUSHKILL, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a New York City man died after falling off a tube he was using to float down the Delaware River in northeastern Pennsylvania over the weekend. The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area said Sunday that the 51-year-old man, who was not wearing a life jacket, was with a group of people floating on tubes in the river, in Pike County, but became separated from them, fell into the water and went under.

Florida deputies shatter window to rescue 1-year-old locked in hot car

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (TND) — Deputies in Florida didn't hesitate to shatter a window when they discovered a toddler was locked in a hot car for up to 10 minutes. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office said they responded on Monday to a 911 call made by a women reporting her 1-year-old daughter had accidentally been locked inside a vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart in Palm Coast. Deputy First Class Finn and Deputy Harrison were the first to arrive on the scene, according to officials, and found a man and woman standing outside the vehicle that was not running.

Moose Club bans smoking nationwide

Effective Wednesday, Jan. 1, Moose Club International went tobacco free. "The thought behind making this was the health of our members and their families and our future members,” said Lodge No. 349 administrator Carol Lesko. Back in July at their international convention, Moose Club members voted to ditch chewing tobacco, vaping and cigarettes at their clubs because they say children's welfare is central to the organization's mission. “What it is all about is the children, Mooseheart and Moosehaven,” said Sid Walker Jr.

PIAA Wrestling State Championships

HERSHEY, PA (WJAC) - Three local wrestlers left the Giant Center as state champions. In 2A, Forest Hill's Jackson Arrington won his 3rd PIAA Individual Wrestling State Championship on the mats of 152 lbs. In 3A, Central Mountain's Dalton Perry won gold at at 126 lbs. and State College's Pierson Manville won his first state title at 138 lbs. Over 20 wrestlers left with medals in both 2A and 3A. Portable cat shelters and neutering proposed as solutions for Johnstown stray crisis

Cambria County, PA — Residents in our area say neighborhood cat populations are out of control. They say concerns began when they started to see groups of them wandering the streets more frequently. They say a lack of assistance from authorities, plus people allegedly abandoning their animals are to blame. Some residents say because of this, dead felines are being found around the city of Johnstown, in the colder months. One woman says her daughter found a distressed cat just in time.
