Spotted Lanternflies are wreaking havoc as one of the top invasive species in Pennsylvania. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, the spotted lanternfly is a planthopper that’s native to east Asia. It was first discovered in PA in Berks County in 2014. Since then, it’s caused significant damage on the local environment as well as the economy. “They are quite invasive and quite dangerous to our fruit production," said Capri Stiles-Mikesell, the biosecurity educator at Penn State Extension.

3 face charges in connection to meth lab bust, stolen firearm

BELLEFONTE – Three Bellefonte women are facing charges in Centre County in connection to a methamphetamine lab bust and a stolen firearm after a traffic stop. According to Spring Township police, Skyler Holland has been charged with; operating a meth lab, possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, precursors to a meth lab, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, firearms not to be possessed by convicted felon, firearms carried without a license, criminal use of communication facility, possession of instruments of a crime, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture meth and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

DMV-area high schoolers recruited to march in 'School Strike for Gaza,' docs show

Giant, 40-foot Santa Claus returns in Philipsburg

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Santa Claus, the super-sized version, is back in town in the Moshannon Valley. The Philipsburg Elks once again heading up the operation over the weekend to put up the giant plywood Santa, which is said to be the tallest Santa Claus display in the state. It was created by local artist Bill Adams in the 1960's and since 2005, Santa and the toy soldiers have been a holiday fixture at the Cold Stream Dam Park along Route 322.

Man returns Steelers' bike, says he bought it for $200

PITTSBURGH -- Police say a man has returned JuJu Smith-Schuster's bike, telling investigators he bought it from someone for $200 on the street. Mount Oliver police Chief Matt Juzwick said the man called from a bar about 11 p.m. Tuesday after realizing from TV news the bike was reported stolen by the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver. Smith-Schuster was expected to pick it up Wednesday. Mount Oliver is a tiny borough bordering Pittsburgh.

Altoona man killed after colliding with tractor-trailer in Snyder Township

2nd UPDATE |BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police in Blair County say an Altoona man was killed Monday afternoon after his Fiat collided with a tractor-trailer in Snyder Township. Troopers say 30-year-old Justin Kelly was traveling southbound on Pennington Road, around 12:30 p.m., while approaching its intersection with Birmingham Pike. Investigators say Kelly reportedly pulled out in front of an oncoming tractor-trailer, which was traveling westbound along Birmingham Pike.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Disney on Ice – Worlds of Enchantment is coming to Johnstown. The Feld Entertainment production will be at the 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial from Jan. 9-12. According to Chelsea Ridley, a Disney on Ice ensemble skater, the audience can expect to see characters from "Cars," "Frozen," "The Little Mermaid," "Toy Story" and more.
