PORTAGE - There are new details about a loud explosion heard in Cambria County earlier this week. Dozens of people reached out to 6 News asking about what caused the ground to shake late Monday afternoon in the Summerhill, Wilmore and Portage areas. On Wednesday, Summerhill Township Police Chief Paul Bonfanti confirmed that a loud explosion was caused by a group of people setting off a mixture of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder.

Northern Cambria man accused of stalking woman, groping her at local grocery store

Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Northern Cambria Borough Police Department say a man is facing charges after he was accused of groping a woman at a local Giant Eagle store while she was working. According to the affidavit, police say 65-year-old Timothy Depetro allegedly entered an "employee only" area of the store and inappropriately touched the woman while she was standing on a ladder. Police say the woman stated that she reported the incident to the store's manager.

Panera phases out 'Charged Lemonades' nationwide following lawsuits

WASHINGTON (TND) — You soon won't be able to get a highly caffeinated drink at Panera. The company is "phasing out" its "Charged Lemonades" at all locations, according to a company spokesperson. Instead, Panera will be adding new "exciting," "trend flavors," "low-sugar" and "low-caffeine" drink options to its menu. The menu change comes after Panera's caffeinated beverages were blames for the deaths of at least two people that sparked lawsuits.

State police investigating man's death at Indiana County quarry

Indiana County, PA (WJAC) — State police and the Indiana County coroner's office are investigating the death of a man at an Indiana County limestone quarry. Officials say first responders were dispatched to Ridge Limestone Inc., located in Young Township, around 10:30 a.m. Friday. Authorities say the man had reportedly become trapped in a limestone hopper. Investigators say, despite rescue efforts, the man, who is an employee of the company, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Teen in 'stable condition' following accidental shooting outside Cambria Co. gym

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. — UPDATE | Police have released more details regarding a shooting that occurred at MorGainz Fitness, in Jackson Township, Cambria County, Sunday morning. According to officers with the Jackson Township Police Department, the shooting involved one juvenile who accidentally shot himself in a car in the parking lot of the business around 11:30 a.m. Officials said the 13-year-old was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Family of geese 'intentionally' run over and killed in York Co., wildlife center says

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A local wildlife center is asking the public for help after multiple geese were recently run over and killed in York County. According to the Raven Ridge Wildlife Center, someone eating dinner at The First Post on East Market Street looked outside and saw a vehicle run over a family of geese. In a Facebook post, the wildlife center said the vehicle killed seven Canadian geese — two adults and five goslings.

Franco Harris' Super Bowl rings now on display at Pittsburgh Sports Museum

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — Officials with the Pittsburgh Sports Museum announced that the four Super Bowl rings that once belonged to late Steelers' running-back Franco Harris are now on display at the museum. Steelers sign first-round draft pick T.J. Watt

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers said Wednesday that they have signed first-round draft pick T.J. Watt to a four-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed. Watt, 6 feet 4 inches tall and 252 pounds, was the 30th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He played collegiate football at the University of Wisconsin. Watt appeared in 27 games, making 14 starts over a two-year span. Watt recorded 70 tackles, including 17 stops for losses and 11.
